The Problem With Your MLM Website
Every day I have people send me a link to their network marketing company’s replicated MLM web site. In case you don’t know the term, a “replicated” multi level marketing website is the cloned web page that each distributor gets to personalize with their own contact information. These MLM websites usually look nice, but have some serious flaws when it comes to building your business.
MLM Website Trap #1: Branding
Take a look at your replicated network marketing website. What do you see? Your name is in little type in the corner, while the company and products take the stage. Fine for a corporate MLM web site, but they don’t need the branding… YOU do!
Replicated websites brand the company, which does little for you. If you don’t already know it, people join people in this business, not companies. To take a prospect who became interested in you, and direct them to a corporate site, weakens the bond that your started with them. They will see the company, instead of you.
MLM Website Trap #2: Search Engines
Whether you prefer online or offline techniques to build your network marketing business, no one can deny the impact of online marketing. Thus it is important that people can find you on Google and elsewhere on the internet. If you use your replicated multi level marketing website, the search engines won’t help you much. You won’t get indexed the same way, and people will be less likely to find you.
The better approach is to get your own self-hosted domain, such as www.yourname.com. It’s easy, inexpensive, and allows you a world of flexibility. It also allows you to make your own blog. Blogging is an important strategy, as it lets your readers learn about YOU, and is very well received by the search engines.
MLM Website Trap #3: Attraction Marketing
As an extension to the Branding idea, I have to mention Attraction Marketing. Too many networkers are still using the old belly-to-belly methods, leading with their product or their comp plan, and having to chase down potential recruits. Attraction marketing, however, is all about building a brand around yourself, such that hungry, targeted prospects will find you, and want to partner with you. They seek you out because they know you offer the solutions, training and support that they need and want. This is accomplished, in part, from you creating your own presence online through your network marketing website.
MLM Website Trap #4: Prospecting
Lastly, and most critical, no one can take your own web site away from you. Imagine spending years promoting your replicated site, only to have the company shut down. It happens! Or you decide to change companies? What about the opt-in leads that you’ve built up? What happens to them?
Bottom line, if you don’t own and manage your own data, someone else does. And you just can’t afford to take that risk. Ever.

Great article. Replicated websites seem like such a great idea, but as you lay out they’re a complete waste of time for distributors! They don’t ‘pull’, they don’t brand you, they’re so OBVIOUS (http://MyMLMCompany.com/repid?xxxxxxx)
People will RUN.
You can get your own domain name for like $11 a year.
