It's All About People in MLM
There’s no dispute. Network marketing is a People Business. Without people in MLM, there is no MLM. Simple, right?
When you joined your MLM company, you were told to brainstorm to get as many people as possible on to a list for you to contact. You probably were given a “memory jogger” form to help you remember all the people you’ve ever known, going back to kindergarten.
The Obvious Mistake
The problem here is that you are not targeting a market. Without targeting, you are shooting without aiming first. You might hit something you want once in a while, but you’re going to waste a lot of shots trying.
The Simple Solution
You will improve your success dramatically by targeting your market rather than randomly soliciting.
So who is your market? People in MLM already. But you may be thinking, if they’re already IN network marketing, how am I going to recruit them into MY opportunity?
Here’s the trick. People in MLM move. They move from company to company, thinking that it is the product, or the pricing, or the comp plan that is causing their lack of success. After all… they did what their upline told them… why isn’t it working?
Why?
Network marketing comp plans are designed to make people work and work and work FIRST, and receive benefits later. Way, way later. This isn’t necessarily a problem, but it is rarely disclosed to rookie network marketers.
So, when the immediate success doesn’t come, people in MLM companies think that it’s their company or product to blame.
To make matters worse, the sponsors or upline don’t typically know how to market in a way that drives hungry prospects. People in MLM who want to join you. As you have probably learned, going head to head with the “my product is better than your product” approach is a giant waste of time.
So What’s the Key?
What the typical network marketer is lacking is Leadership. If you want to succeed in MLM, you need a Mentor. Someone who can guide you, not just parrot what they were told by their sponsor, and so on.
They may not always realize that they are without leadership though, as their upline seems to be motivating them, holding meetings, helping with 3-way calls, etc. But it isn’t enough.
Conclusion
The most successful people in MLM today are following the principles of attraction marketing, which is simply the art of providing real value to our fellow marketers, teaching them what their upline won’t (or can’t), and building lasting relationships.
People join people, not opportunities... and MLM Pros know it!
Stand out as a real leader, with real answers, and you’ll never have a shortage of prospective team members again.
You can do this even if you just started in network marketing! Don’t let ANYTHING stand in your way. The method I mentioned above, is to use a multi level marketing system for lead generation.
